This SSR fits in a standard ANL fuse holder (depicted in the pictures).
A solid-state relay is similar to a mechanical relay but its function is achieved by means of electronic components. SSRs do not contain any moving parts as the electromechanical relays do.
Solid state relays have a much longer life, they are quiet, spark-free, and only require a current of a few milli-amperes to hold in the ON state. Electromechanical relays require a much higher current to power the coil.
This makes SSRs desirable in battery-operated equipment. Typical applications for this SSR are RVs, boats, vehicles, or any 12V system.

These are great. I use them as motor power relays on all my underwater robots.
The SSR works as advertised and is a nice addition. The PowerMon-5S shut is reading the voltage too high by 5 volts. Confirmed with a volt meter. Waiting for support from Thornwave if this can be corrected.
Offers the potential of very high reliability and very little parasitic current draw. Only time will tell if long term reliability meets expectations but everything is great so far.
I installed it in my RV to check and control the amperage of a traditional charger and allow me to charge my 12 V LifePo4 battery without risk of damaging it. I paired it with the bluetooth module. It's fantastic to have the information on my cell phone.
